things i love. on thanksgiving.

Some things I love. On Thanksgiving, which is also, coincidentally, a Thursday. Convenient, eh?

. . .

Christine Bougie’s beautiful new album, Aloha Supreme, is out. You can listen to and purchase it here. Wow.

. . .

Briana has created a Money Balloon, and I’m excited about it. She made it so we (and she, too) can feel peace of mind, clarity and hope, instead of pressure and anxiety, around money. It’s a system, but not the sort that makes you feel guilty and downtrodden. Plus, the cover is so beautiful and green.

. . .

Reteaching Gender and Sexuality created the documentary Put This on the Map, a documentary that aims to teach teachers and administrators about gender and sexuality in order to support queer youth. From their website:

“Reteaching Gender & Sexuality intends to steer the conversation beyond the symptom of bullying, to consider systemic issues and deeper beliefs about gender and sexuality that impact queer youth.”

Oh, and this project was created by queer youth from the Eastside suburbs of Seattle (that’s where I’m from!). You can donate directly here, and you can also help by getting the word out through social media.

. . .

I’m going to start coaching my very first client soon. Woo-hoo!

. . .

Dutch babies. I’m obsessed. (To clarify, this is a food, not a type of person.)

. . .

Just in case there’s anyone left who hasn’t yet gotten the new Girl Talk album, here you go. He’s offering it for free under a Creative Commons license. And yeah, Girl Talk really is just one guy.

. . .

I attended a completely rocking pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving potluck. Deviled eggs, no-knead bread and pumpkin pie were consumed. Great conversations were had.

. . .

Two of my very best friends, one of whom is the Deep Dish part of Thin Crust Deep Dish, and the other of whom has been living abroad for approximately seven years, were in New York at the same time. Pretty much a miracle. An excessive amount of fun was had.

. . .

Feminism, history and Harry Potter all in one article? No; you aren’t dreaming. This is heaven on Earth.

. . .

Even though I’m not in Seattle right now, I was cheering for everyone there who had a couple days of light snow this week. If you’ve never been in Seattle during a snowfall, let me tell you, the entire city shuts down after just about an inch falls. It’s quiet and lovely. I particularly enjoyed Tea’s illustration of the storm. And the thoroughly adorable (as @gwenbell pointed out) Twitter hashtag #snOMG.

. . .

And lastly, I’ve recently fallen in love with Random Recipe. Two women making great hip hop? Yes, please. I particularly like the song Shipwreck.

. . .

And now, I’m signing off. A very happy long weekend of giving thanks to all.
